What this service is

Brick by Brick Strategy operates this website, the book, and a platform of applications for adults in recovery from substance use disorder thinking about the work part of life. Access to the platform is available via paid subscription. The book is sold separately and comes with a discount code that reduces the first year of platform access. Free annual access is available to participants in eligible Invest Hamilton County programs.

What this service is not

This service is not clinical, medical, or legal advice. It is not a substitute for treatment, sponsorship, counseling, or counsel admitted in your state. See the full disclaimer architecture for the complete framing.

Acceptable use

You agree to use the platform only for:

• Personal reflection and self-exploration
• Educational purposes for credentialed treatment professionals (using their own accounts; not on behalf of clients)
• Personal use by employers reading to understand how the framework might inform workplace decisions (employers do not use the platform to collect data about employees)

You agree not to:

• Use the platform on behalf of another person without their explicit consent
• Share your access credentials with anyone
• Attempt to scrape, copy, or republish the platform’s gated content
• Use AI tools to train on or replicate the platform’s proprietary content
• Misrepresent the platform’s outputs as clinical, medical, or legal advice

Payment, billing, and refunds

Book purchases

The book is sold at $14.99 (digital purchases) or the listed price for paperback editions. Each book purchase generates a single-use discount code, sent to the purchase email, that reduces the first year of platform subscription from $79 to $49. The discount code is tied to the purchase email, expires 12 months after issuance, and is non-transferable.

Refunds for direct book purchases: we offer a 14-day refund window for direct digital book purchases made through this website. If you have not redeemed your discount code, contact mthibideau@brickbybrickstrategy.com within 14 days of purchase to request a refund. Once a discount code has been redeemed against a subscription, the book purchase is considered fulfilled and non-refundable. Paperback purchases made through Amazon or third-party retailers are subject to that retailer’s refund policy, not ours.

Platform subscriptions

Platform subscriptions are billed annually at $79 (or $49 for the first year with a valid book buyer discount code). Subscriptions renew automatically at the full $79 annual rate. Payment is processed by Stripe; we do not store payment details directly.

Cancellation: you may cancel your subscription at any time through the Stripe Customer Portal (linked from your account page) or by emailing mthibideau@brickbybrickstrategy.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain access through the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not issue prorated refunds for cancelled-but-unused subscription time.

First-period refund window: if you cancel within 7 days of the first subscription payment AND you have not made substantive use of the platform (specifically: no saved app artifacts), we will refund the first-period payment in full. Contact mthibideau@brickbybrickstrategy.com to request. This window does not apply to renewal payments; subsequent annual renewals are not refundable beyond the regular cancellation flow.

Renewal notification: Stripe sends a renewal reminder email approximately 7 days before each annual renewal. If you want to cancel before renewal, do so in that window.

IHC program participant codes

IHC program participant codes grant free annual access to the platform and are non-transferable. They expire one year after redemption. There are no payment or refund considerations attached to participant codes.

Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, Stripe automatically retries per its standard schedule. If retries fail and the subscription lapses, you retain access through the end of the previously-paid period; access ends after that unless payment is restored. We do not pursue collections on failed subscription payments.

Disputes and chargebacks

If you have a payment or service concern, please contact mthibideau@brickbybrickstrategy.com before initiating a chargeback with your card issuer. Most concerns can be resolved directly within 72 hours. Chargebacks initiated without prior contact may result in suspended platform access pending resolution.

Intellectual property

All content on the platform — book chapters, application logic, principle commentary, framework architecture, copy — is the intellectual property of Brick by Brick Strategy, LLC. Subscribers access this content for personal use under these Terms. Reproduction, republication, or commercial reuse requires written permission.

The platform’s Recovery Career Compass framework is proprietary IP. The principle-by-principle commentary library is proprietary IP. Subscribers may quote individual short passages with attribution and a link back to the source page.

Author identity

Brick by Brick Strategy, LLC is the personal company of Mike Thibideau. Mike also serves as President & CEO of Invest Hamilton County. The work on this platform is Mike’s personal work and does not represent the views or positions of Invest Hamilton County. See the full disclaimer architecture.

Limitation of liability

The platform is provided as-is, for personal reflection. Brick by Brick Strategy, LLC is not liable for decisions you make using the platform’s outputs. The platform does not replace your sponsor, counselor, family, attorney, or your own judgment. The outputs are one input among many.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana.
